Authorized User Accounts (AU)/Trade lines

What are authorized user/trade lines?

Authorized user accounts or trade lines are typically revolving lines of credit on which someone places another as an authorized user account holder. The trade line/account then appears on the user’s credit report and are used to help increase the credit score.

How long does it take for the authorized user account to post?

Most accounts post once per month so depending on when you order the trade line it could take up to 45 days to post.  If you need an account as soon as possible you must notify our office and choose a trade line that will post as soon as possible.

How long does the trade line stay on my report?

Depending on the trade line/account, most stay on at least 60 days but some as much as 90 days.  That’s why it’s important that your credit is ready for the AU account. Our clients have benefited greatly from AU accounts when added correctly.

Do AU accounts always post?

There are occasions that an Authorized User/Trade Line account will not post; however, unless you are trying to post to a CPN the service is guaranteed.  Some AU accounts will require you to pull your credit (soft pull) or have someone else pull it (hard pull) in order for the account to post to your credit.  Usually the reason you would need a hard pull is the credit card company does not use your social security number so you need a hard/soft pull with the card holder address to connect the card to you.

The process for ordering an Authorized User/Trade line:

  1. Contact our office for an updated list.
  2. Choose and available  – if you are getting multiple cards, it’s best to select from the same person/list (call the office for help).
  3. Send payment thru Paypal or deposit funds into our Wells Fargo - contact our office for instructions.
  4. After you pay for your trade lines, email our office with the list information; card name, credit limit amount and amount you deposited.   You MUST include your name, date of birth and social security number.  Then you must send a copy of your deposit slip or Paypal info.
  5. We will send you confirmation that your order has been processed.  You WILL NOT receive a credit card.
  6. Cards can take up to 16 days to report after the close out date. If the card does not report within the 16 days and you have pulled the hard/soft pull you will be given a refund or a new card if you desire.

Rental Karma

If you’re a renter, your largest monthly expense is probably your rent payment. Yet you don’t build your credit score by paying your rent on time. You can be penalized on your credit report for a rental eviction but you aren’t rewarded for being a responsible renter and making your rent payments. This puts you at a disadvantage because you’re not building credit with a major monthly expense. Homeowners build their credit score by paying their mortgage. It’s time you build your credit score by paying your rent.
